Facilities

Built on tall stilts, this back-to-your-childhood house is submerged by the forest, with a sloped wooden suspension bridge leading steeply to its front door. Inside it’s split level: upstairs, a double king size bed and a small ensuite toilet; downstairs, a second double bed, a single bed and a kitchen. There’s enough room for a family, however also very romantic and very suited to a couple.

All of the furniture is handcarved sustainable wood, windows are open but screened against bugs, while scarlet Birds of Paradise flowers provide splashes of colour.

The shared bathroom is back on ground level and this is fabulous: a 100-year-old Sangrillo tree shelters a toilet in one trunk fold, an outdoor shower in another. A mirror is framed with seashells, towels are folded into different shapes each day.

Extras in the house:

Each house includes 24 hour security and safety box. A House Key Security Deposit of US$20 cash will be asked for, in case of losing the keys of any of the houses. The deposit will be returned at the end of your stay.

Children under 3 years old are free. Ages 3 to 9 pay half price. Ages 10 years and older pay as an adult. Each Customer receives a free welcome breakfast on their first day. Additional breakfast is then $10 p,p thereafter. The price of one additional person is $50.

Sustainability

The Tree House has been entirely built of sustainable woods. All the hard woods used on the tree House were obtained out of fallen trees. We did not cut any alive tree to build the Tree House. Most of the woods used on the Tree House are Nispero Manilkara chicle and Casha Pithecellobium idiopodum. Both are hardwoods.

Most of the time, these trees are found in deep areas of the jungle. To get them out we cut them on location in the desired sizes, then we pull the wood out with oxes. Many times it took several weeks to get our wood out of the jungle before we could build.

The bathroom is built around a 100+ year-old tree, which is still growing around the house.

Reservations

Costa Ricans

We promote national tourism and therefore give a 10% discount on the rates mentioned above if you can show us your Costa Rican nationality.

Payment Conditions

In order to secure the reservation of the total amount, there must be a 30% deposit. The remaining 70% must be paid in advance 2 weeks prior the arrival. First night deposit is non refundable.

Cancellations and refund policies

All cancellations must be received in writing via fax or email. All cancellations must be acknowledged by the hotel. In case off any refunds, the first night deposit is not refundable. Fax: (506) 27500261, Mail: reservations@costaricatreehouse.com

Cancellations during the stay apply full charge with a credit note for the nights cancelled. This credit note can be used for a new reservation all year long.

We cannot be responsible for late arrivals (including plane delays), early checkouts, change of plans or rain and landslides.

That means that you can change your plans or have your plans changed on you but you are responsible to pay for the changes, If you need to cancel we will try to resell the reservation dates which is often possible, if so 50%  of the first deposit will be send back to the client via Paypal.
